I have been “growing” kefir for about a year now. My cousin was generous enough to share her grains with me, so I didn’t have to buy new; therefore, I saved a lot of time and money. Kefir grains can be purchased from Amazon.com or from websites like this one, CulturedFoodLife.com ; however, they don’t come cheap! Since kefir is made from a live culture, I call the kefir grains my “kefir babies.” The reasons are because they have to be fed, checked on to see how they are doing, and their diapers changed (in this case, milk)! All this loving care will permit the entire fermentation process to start over and over again and provide you with a delicious and healthy probiotic drink on a continuous basis.
