We arrived home from the west coast of Florida a few days ago. Once again, I’m glad to be home! Most importantly, I am grateful and humbled by God’s protection of our lives and our property. Experiences like this gives me a chance to regroup and think about what I want to do different next time in preparation of continuing hurricane season. Hurricane season doesn’t technically end until the end of November. UGH! So, I have decided not to completely unload the RV of everything that isn’t tied down. I am going to leave all the bedding and most of the kitchen stuff, and paper products, which in essence means, leaving anything in the RV that doesn’t involve food or something that could melt or be damaged by heat or humidity. Even though the RV is stored under a covered shed, it still gets hot in there and plenty humid.
RV TIPS: A tip to keep out bugs and rodents when you’re storing your RV is to place smelly dryer sheets in cabinets and around the floor of the RV. On the outside, spread mothballs around the perimeter of the RV and in the engine compartment. Both actions have worked in keeping bugs and creatures like rats, mice and squirrels at bay. Another RV tip is that I crack the roof vents for air circulation and place buckets of Damp Rid ($9.95 each at Walmart or Home Depot), usually 2, in the RV to help reduce humidity. Something new that I really like are Eva-Dry plug in dehumidifiers, like the one shown below. You can find them on Amazon.com for $ 14.97. I place two or three of these in the RV. The worst enemies of any type of RV, travel trailer, camper, or the like are moisture (whether in the from of humidity or water leaks) and rodents. Insects are more easily controllable, but water leaks, high humidity, and rodents do damage that can be devastating; plus, frustrating to remedy.
Now that I am home again, I’m contemplating what projects I going to do next. Stay tuned to see what’s in the works at Patty Ann’s Pastimes! Thanks for reading!!!
