When Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” said, “There’s no place like home,” she was right! Visiting kids and grandkids and other relatives this summer was a fun time, but I am glad to be home! Travelling a total of 4000 miles in the RV proved to be both challenging and exhilarating. I was once again reminded about how little I need to maintain my daily life and how much I want that is truly frivolous. Most of the “stuff” I took in the RV I didn’t use; plus, the projects I took along I didn’t touch because I concentrated more on spending time with others. Also, one thing I learned: RVing for a couple of months is entirely different than RVing full-time, especially when you know you have a home to come back to. For example, I didn’t have to take any winter clothes, although it did get down in the 50’s some nights in Iowa! Clothes take up a lot of room, so the fewer the better. It doesn’t bother me anymore to wear the same clothes over the next day if they pass “The Smell Test!” Additionally, I took along several coloring books and lots of markers, pens and crayons; drawing pads and pencils. Never touched them. Also, never got out my quilting project. Took along several games and puzzles, but only used a deck of cards to play rummy and cribbage. On the other hand, I thought I would have some downtime to work on my blog/website, but I was mistaken. The daily routine and chores that need to be done with the RV; plus, enjoying the time spent with my family was enough to keep me quite busy and looking forward to the next day of adventure. I tried not to accumulate too much stuff to bring back due to limited spare storage space in the RV. However, my granddaughter got me hooked on making beaded bracelets, so I HAD to make room for several containers of beads, string and all the other goodies that go along with bracelet construction. So, I’m back! I’m ready to get up to speed with my blog and start posting more regularly. Look for new recipes, projects, household tips, DIY’s, and much, much more to come soon!!
